Free range, pastured chicken, fed with non GMO grain.

Our chickens are raised in a free-range environment where they can express their natural behaviours. They are raised outside from roughly their third week on. They are raised on a large fenced-off pasture (to protect them from predators!), with access to movable chicken coops (built from modified greenhouses) where they can scratch and peck to their heart’s content. They consume a surprising amount of greens, mowing down the pasture while searching for bugs, grubs and other goodies. The movable coops are moved every 3 days to provide a clean environment and to allow more even manure distribution.

Our chickens are fed a GMO free feed that is custom made for us by a local mill. The feed contains organic soy, wheat, barley and minerals. It does not contain any antibiotics, hormones or animal by-products.

Chickens are sent to slaughter between 8 and 10 weeks of age (when they weigh between 6 and 8 lb.), at abattoir Pouliot which is under provincial certification.

Chicken production is under a quota system, which means that the number of chickens we can raise is regulated by law. We have a small quota of 100 square meters, which allows us to raise roughly 6000 chickens per year.

We sell our chickens whole our in cuts, vacuum packed and frozen. They are prepared by Boucherie Vachon (C-1 certification), a small local family operation located in St-Isidore-de-Clifton.
